Queens Drive closes after heavy rain hits Liverpool

Part of Queens Drive has been closed after heavy rains hit Liverpool. The section of Queens Drive in Mossley Hill is the same part where married couple Elaine and Philip Marco tragically died last summer after their car became stranded in flood water.

Following the shocking deaths of the well-known couple, Liverpool Council installed a package of new infrastructure to try and prevent further tragedies in the area, where flooding regularly occurs. This included new barriers, cameras and flood sensors, with motorists warned to avoid the area during bad weather and the barriers able to stop drivers travelling through.

Liverpool City Council confirmed the road has been closed as a "precautionary safety measure" during heavy rain. The flood sensor has also been activated.

It is expected to reopen tomorrow morning, Liverpool City Council said. Read the full story here.
