Can you get a birth certificate the same day in Michigan? ›

Birth Certificate requests received in-person are provided the same day.

Personal check or money order should be made payable to State of Michigan. Fees are $34.00 for the search and first certified copy of any birth or Affidavit of Parentage record. Exception is Senior Citizen age 65+ ($14.00) requesting their own birth record.

The cost of a birth certificate (certified copy only) is $30 for the first copy and $5 for each additional copy. If you would like the birth record mailed to you, you must provide us with a self addressed envelope with a stamp.

Michigan marriage records are filed in the county where the license was ISSUED. You can obtain a certified copy of a marriage in person or by mail. For Mail requests, fill out the Marriage Certificate Request Form below, and mail it to the Branch County Clerk with the appropriate fee.

When a birth occurs outside of a medical institution, the responsibility for registering the birth falls to the person attending the birth. If you have delivered a baby at home, please contact County Clerk's office for birth registration requirements and to make an appointment at 616-632-7640.

In order for the ceremony to be legal, it must be performed by an ordained minister, magistrate, judge, or mayor of a city in Michigan. The marriage ceremony must include at least two witnesses in addition to the person performing the ceremony.

Bring a valid State of Michigan Marriage License to the ceremony. You are required to have two witnesses over the age of 18 present. A $10 marriage fee must be paid at the Civil Department counter prior to the ceremony.
