The 7 Best Tweezers, Tested and Reviewed (2024)

Whether you have thick or thin eyebrows, the right set of tweezers can help you sculpt your brows into the perfect shape, leaving room for creativity in how you style them (whether feathered, natural, or filled in). Cara Delevingne, Brooke Shields, and Miranda Kerr are just a few celebrities with eye-catching brow shapes worth mimicking, and a quality tweezer set can move you toward your eyebrow goals.

"You want to find a tweezer that feels comfortable in your hand," celebrity brow stylist Joey Healy tells PEOPLE. "For me, I like full-length tweezers versus short mini ones. You have a better grip with them and they're more ergonomic to hold."

Our team plucked around their brows with 18 different tweezers to see which performed best. We considered whether the design of each tweezer was effective for maneuvering around brows and gripping individual hairs, and we ultimately came up with 7 tweezers worthy of the PEOPLE Tested seal of approval.

Sleek and durable in design, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Tweezer was by far our team's favorite. This tweezer earned a perfect score in all of our tests due to its sophisticated design, size, and ease of use. The elegant black base and steel tweezer are incredibly durable (and stylish), and work efficiently to remove all hair quickly.

Our team tester was able to grab the hair on the first try, as well as reach tiny hairs close to the arch of the brow. The tweezer also comes with a small cover to protect the tip from wear over time. Though more expensive than others on our list, the Anastasia tweezer was praised for its solid grip, seamless design, lightweight feel, and ease of use.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Review

Pros

  • Easy to grip

  • Budget-friendly

  • Nice design

Cons

  • Flat versus angled point (not as great for small hairs)

We loved the affordability and ease of use that this pair of tweezers offers. Our team found the edges of the tweezer to be sharp and the body to have a small but sleek design. These tweezers are easy to move around the shape of the brow, and they can even get into challenging under-arch areas without issue.

Despite the smooth surface, this tweezer was highly grippable, and it never slipped out of our hands during testing. The warm pink-ish tone adds some playfulness to the design, and overall, this is a highly effective pair of tweezers.

The 7 Best Tweezers, Tested and Reviewed (4)

Pros

  • Includes eyebrow comb

  • Sharp angled tip

  • Easy to grip

  • Durable material

Cons

  • Might be too pricey for some budgets

We tested this pair of tweezers at home using the same criteria as our lab test, and they didn't disappoint. Our editor loved how user-friendly these tweezers were, and she especially appreciated their strong grip. She found they were able to grip hairs effortlessly and pluck them before she even felt a pinch. This pair of tweezers also comes with a little cap to cover the point when you store them, which we love.

The tweezers are stylish, comfortable to hold, and effective at removing hairs. And though a little pricey, they're made with stainless steel and built to last, so we think these tweezers are worth the investment.

Tip: Sharp | Grip: Strong | Set or Individual: Individual

Pros

  • Travel-sized

  • Easy to grip and maneuver

  • Comes as a set

Cons

  • Small size

You shouldn't have to spend more than a few seconds trying to pluck a stubborn eyebrow hair, and with the Tweezerman Micro Mini Slant Tweezers Trio, you won't have to put in any extra effort. Earning a perfect score in all of our tests, this set of three tweezers was a favorite with our team for its design and how well each tweezer gripped and removed hair.

While the sizes are rather small, they make this set perfect for travel — not to mention the rose gold case that's easy to spot in your makeup bag. We found the tweezers easy to use and maneuver around the brow, and we appreciated the various points and tips on each one. (One is pointy, one is angled, and one is flat.) The pointy-tip tweezer grips hair firmly without risking a sharp poke to the forehead. We also loved how effective the tweezers were on all hair types.

The 7 Best Tweezers, Tested and Reviewed (7)

Pros

  • Incredible point

  • Effective at gripping small hairs

Cons

  • Sharp

  • Small to hold

This pair of tweezers is ideal for those who get tiny hard-to-pluck hairs around the edges of their brows. The tweezer itself is quite small (which might be tricky for those with larger hands), but it snatches baby eyebrow hairs with ease.

The edges are sharp, and though the material of the tweezer is smooth, it's still easy to grip and hold for an extended period of time. We didn't have to exert any extra pressure or force when gripping our eyebrow hairs during testing. We really appreciate the efficacy of this pair of tweezers and think they would be handy for plucking those tiny hairs that pop up in between brow sessions.

The Best Waterproof Mascara PEOPLE Tested

Pros

  • Comes with a brush

  • Easy to grip

  • Durable material

Cons

  • Flat tip

Our team loved the versatile design of this pair of tweezers — which doubles as an eyebrow brush. This combo is ideal for sweeping back various sections of the brow to see any tiny stray hairs lurking underneath. The flat wide tip might not be as precise as other tweezers, but it makes it easy to grip larger sections of hair (say two or three longer pieces).

The tweezer feels strong and durable when holding it, and it can be used lightly and still get quite a few hairs with each pluck. This pair of tweezers is ideal for the section between your brows and on the end above the tail of your brow where the skin is less sensitive.

We love the durable yet lightweight design — perfect for sitting in front of your mirror for a long tweezing session without your hand cramping up.

Acing every test with a perfect score, this tweezer grips and pulls hair quickly and painlessly — though the end is sharp, so be mindful when plucking. Considering how effective and affordable this sleek tweezer is, we think it's a great pair to add to your grooming kit.

Things to Consider Before Buying Tweezers

Grip

The grip of tweezers affects how well they grasp each hair and how hard you have to hold them during use. To avoid hand cramps and stray hairs, you'll want a set of tweezers with a strong grip. Bonus points if you can find one with a finger-sized hold for added grippage.

Tip Shape

Tweezers have varying tip shapes to help with specific goals. For instance, if you're working in the sensitive underside of your brow bone, you might want a flatter tip to avoid any pokes, whereas a pointed or angled pair might work best for short hairs in the space between your brows. "A tweezer with a chiseled tip is revolutionary because it combines both a slant and point to easily remove all types of hair — from thick individual eyebrow hairs to the soft peach fuzz that can live around the eyebrow," says Healy. His preferred tweezer — Joey Healy Pro Sculpting Tweezer — is a prime example of a chiseled tip.

Sharpness

Though a tiny beauty tool, tweezers can be sharp, and if you tend to hurry through your brow routine, you might consider a duller option to avoid any injuries. However, if you move slowly and precisely, you'll have more success removing hairs with sharper tweezers. "Tweezers won't dull because of your skin," Healy says. "What will dull them is dropping them on the floor, throwing them in a cosmetics bag, putting them in a drawer in the bathroom where they kind of bounce around and hit other things." So, if you store your tweezers with some protection and care, they'll last longer.

Material

When possible, look for tweezers that are stainless steel — bonus points if it's medical grade stainless steel. "The quality of the [stainless steel] tweezer is superior, durable, and when taken care of, should last you forever," says Healy. He also suggests a design with "good bounce back action" — meaning the tweezer doesn't slam shut, but also isn't hard to close.

How We Tested Tweezers

We gave our testers 18 top-rated tweezers, and let them go to town on their brows. We tested each tweezer for design, ease of use, grip and tension, and performance.

Starting with freshly cleansed skin, our team plucked several stray hairs in different sections around the brow (under, over, and in between) to see how the tweezers performed. We paid special attention to how hard or easy it was to squeeze the tweezers during use, and we noted if the grip felt secure and sturdy in our hands and on the hairs plucked. We also considered whether the tweezers worked better with thicker or thinner hair, and if the pointed tip caused any pain during the plucking process.
